Airport parking guidance
In an increasingly competitive market, airports want to offer visitors an excellent service starting at the entrance of the airport: the parking facilities. With existing parking capacity often being underutilized and visitors having to search for available parking spaces, airports are provided with many opportunities to improve on their parking experience. With this in mind, 4 of the leading European airports have chosen to deploy Nedap’s smart parking sensors as part of their new parking and traffic plans.
SENSIT: Smart airport parking
The SENSIT platform is based on wireless inground parking sensors that detect the real-time occupancy status and parking duration of individual parking bays. The parking sensors are flush and surface mountable and are equipped with dual detection technology (infrared and magenetic). Additionally, SENSIT platform complies with the airport radio regulations. By integrating the obtained occupancy data into the airports’ parking management and guidance platforms, airports receive detailed insights regarding the use of their parking facilities and are able to guide visitor and staff to available parking bays in a smarter way. This results into an optimized parking experience: less parking search traffic, improved utilization of the existing parking capacity and increased customer satisfaction.

With the help of real-time parking occupancy data, airports can do more than only guide visitors and staff to available parking spaces. Parking managers can use the data to monitor and enforce short-term parking areas like “kiss and fly" bays and drop off zones. Furthermore, the sensors make sure that the traffic flow at area’s like taxi buffer zones, bus parking and airside logistics are optimized.
