Automated order processing at cement factory

The Italian cement factory Merone has been utilizing automation systems for access control and the loading of goods since the first long-range identification systems were available on the market. On updating their installation, management of the organization decided to facilitate automatic vehicle identification. They focused on automatic transaction management, self service cement booking and the cement loading process.

The Merone factory replaced their old solution with Nedap’s RFID system for long-range vehicle identification: TRANSIT. This long-range automatic vehicle identification (AVI) system is based on proven Nedap microwave technology in the 2.45 GHz band.

The system allows identification of tags at a distance of up to 10 meters, even at high speeding passage. With the help of the Compact Tag (long-range RFID Tag) both long-range technology microwave technology and short-range inductive coupling technology can be mixed. This enabled Merone to easily identify and register vehicles in order to optimize the logistics proces.
