Across both the security and parking industries, the demand for standalone vehicle access solutions is rapidly growing. Organizations are increasingly seeking systems that are quick to deploy, require minimal infrastructure, and guarantee security and reliability. At Nedap, we fully understand these needs, because we’ve been delivering that simplicity and reliability for years with our ANPR Lumo.
Why standalone makes the difference
Standalone vehicle access fundamentally simplifies the process of securing or managing access to a site. Operating independently — without the need for external controllers, servers, or software licenses — it brings tangible benefits to system integrators, security professionals, and parking operators alike:
- Fast deployment: operational within minutes using a single Power-over-Ethernet connection.
- Lower total cost of ownership: no recurring license fees or additional hardware required.
- Maximum reliability: guaranteed access continuity, even if the network or server connection fails.
- Effortless maintenance: lifetime software updates included, ensuring long-term performance and compliance.
For locations that require uninterrupted and secure vehicle access, this autonomy translates into more uptime, less complexity, and complete peace of mind.

Proven in real-world environments
The ANPR Lumo is a fully autonomous all-in-one camera that identifies license plates and makes access decisions directly on the device. It’s trusted worldwide in critical environments where reliability and accuracy are essential including airports, logistics hubs, industrial sites, business parks, and parking facilities.
With built-in access control logic, whitelist/blacklist management, and dual relay outputs, ANPR Lumo ensures access continuity for authorized vehicles even during network interruptions. When integration is required, its open REST API makes seamless connection with third-party systems straightforward.
How it works
The ANPR Lumo supports a range of standalone features that make vehicle access both simple and secure:
- Access lists: The camera stores license plates and authorizations locally and can automatically open a gate or barrier based on these access lists. Lists can be managed directly through the intuitive ANPR Lumo web interface or remotely via the REST API.
- Server-based verification: The camera can directly communicate with a (remote) server to verify whether a specific license plate has access and automatically open the gate if access is granted.
Nedap provides lightweight tools to easily manage and synchronize access lists across multiple ANPR Lumo cameras, ensuring consistency and control in every environment.
Experience that drives reliability
While standalone access is now gaining widespread attention, Nedap’s long-standing expertise in developing and deploying such systems has already proven its effectiveness across diverse applications.
With ANPR Lumo, both security and parking professionals get the best of both worlds — simplicity and reliability in a single device, backed by decades of field experience.
