Where it was previously possible to obtain technical support and documentation in various ways, a central platform has now been chosen. Michel Korthout, Technical Operations Manager: “Technical documentation was always available for our partners in a private portal and technical questions from customers were handled via contact forms on the website or via email. We wanted to create a place where interested parties, customers and partners have access to technical documentation and technical support at any time. With the development of the Knowledge Center, we offer a central platform where technical information about our solutions and products can be found, where FAQ’s and tips are shared and where you can ask and view questions yourself, at any time of the day.”

The Knowledge Center offers articles about the application of our products, FAQs, tips and tricks in multiple languages ​​(including Dutch, English, Spanish and Italian). The advantage of this platform is that you can directly ask a question to one of our support employees worldwide. Nedap adds the multiple technology reader NVITE to their long-range identification product portfolio, for contactless driver identification. As leading specialist in systems for long-range identification, Nedap is offering a wide range of solutions to identify vehicles and drivers, without delaying them. NVITE supports reading a wide range of credential technologies, such as Smartcards, Proximity cards and QR codes. The built-in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Near Field Communication (NFC) modules enable secure communication with third party smartphone applications. NVITE is the state-of-the art reader that serves mixed user-groups, such as staff, tenants and visitors, in parking and access control applications.

Seamless entry and exit process at the gate

A welcoming experience starts at the gate, specifically for visitors, contractors and other users that come and go on a non-frequent basis. It is often challenging to manage these groups and from experience it is common knowledge that these type of groups can cause challenges that result in queuing at the gate. Offering a reader that supports multiple technologies in one device, Nedap provides flexibility to end-users and integrators to manage these types of vehicle flows using dedicated identification methods depending on user rights. Combined with the other solutions in its product portfolio Nedap is able to accommodate an even larger flow of vehicles, thereby contributing to a seamless entry and exit process at the gate.

Multiple technology reader for contactless driver identification

The NVITE reader supports the following credential technologies:

• Proximity card (125 kHz): Nedap, HID Prox, EM4200, AWID
• QR: Quick Response and most mainstream 1D and 2D barcodes

Nedap Mobile ID Protocol

To serve a growing number of mobile applications, Nedap has developed the Mobile ID Protocol. This protocol enables secure communication between the reader and any third party smartphone app. Nedap Mobile ID wireless communication protocol is based upon BLE and NFC. With this, the NVITE reader and third party application will perform secure authentication.

Interfaces for seamless communication

NVITE supports a variety of well-established industry-standard communication protocols, such as Wiegand and OSDP (Open Supervised Device Protocol). These protocols enables seamless communication between the reader and a wide variety of access control panels.

Nedap is excited to share the upcoming OSDP upgrade within Nedap’s long-range RFID reader portfolio for automatic vehicle identification. The portfolio will be upgraded and compatible with V.2.1.7 of the Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) standard. This upgrade supports the interoperability of our reader portfolio with a growing number of access control and security products. Over the last few years, an increasing number of access control panel manufacturers is supporting OSDP technology and this upgrade enables seamless integration supported by a highly secured communication standard. Nedap will make OSDP V2.1.7 available for both its TRANSIT and uPASS long-range RFID product line.

Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) standard

OSDP has been developed by the Security Industry Association (SIA). According to the SIA, OSDP offers high security and advanced functionalities. The protocol enables bi-directional and encrypted communication based on Secure Channel Protocol (SCP). In addition, for example, OSDP enables monitoring wiring to protect against attack threats. Due to the fact that OSDP is offering secure and bi-directional communication between the reader and third party controller platform, the OSDP upgrade enables security professionals to simplify secured vehicle access.
