Why make things complicated when they can be simple? At Nedap, we believe that technology should not only be powerful, but also practical and easy to implement. That’s why we’ve introduced a new standard version of our TRANSIT Ultimate long-range RFID reader: the default programmed variant.
Why this change?
Previously, ordering a TRANSIT Ultimate meant choosing from multiple interfaces, firmware versions, and customer-specific programming. While that offered flexibility, it also led to confusion and longer lead times.
We noticed that many customers were using similar, standard configurations. So we thought: why not offer a ready-made version that works for most use cases?
The solution: one standard, many benefits
The new default programmed version is pre-configured with a standard interface, firmware, and programming code. It’s ready to go – ideal for new installations and easy to integrate into existing systems.
But what exactly is default programming?
Default programming means that the reader comes preloaded with a widely used, standard configuration. This eliminates the need to define custom programming when placing an order. In most cases, this standard setup works perfectly out of the box, and it can even be combined with custom-programmed tags or readers using the TRANSIT Configuration Tool.
The TRANSIT Ultimate reader is available with default programming. It comes ready with a default code (GF227), commonly used interfaces like RS232/HID and Wiegand, and firmware that fits most applications.
Default programming also applies to tags, such as the Compact Button. These tags are pre-configured with the same default end-user code (GF227), allowing for immediate use in standard setups — no need for custom programming or configuration.
Need to expand an existing setup? No problem. With the brand new TRANSIT Configuration Tool, you can configure readers to recognize both existing programming and the new default variant.
Not sure what your existing programming is? Try out the programming wizard to identify your programming by simply reading a tag!
Simpler process, more flexibility
- Faster ordering: no need to specify technical details for standard setups.
- Shorter lead times: default programmed readers and tags are readily available.
- Easy expansion: works in combination with existing systems.
- Custom remains possible: still need something specific? Custom programming is available.
Which option should you choose?
If you’re working on a standard installation without specific programming needs, the default programmed reader is the perfect choice. For projects that require a tailored setup or must match an existing configuration exactly, custom programming is still available.
